About the 4K 4Charity Fun Run at IBC 2016

The 4K 4Charity Fun Run at IBC 2016 commemorates advancements in video technology by the global media and entertainment industry and the technology vendors that support them. Open to all registered IBC attendees and individuals who would like to donate, this 4km (2.49-mile) run promotes wellness, networking and charitable giving in a fun, casual environment.

Beneficiaries

All proceeds from run registrations will be donated directly to a global charitable organization, Heifer International, and a local Amsterdam charity, Jeugdsportfonds.

Heifer International’s mission is to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth. For more than 70 years, Heifer International has provided livestock and environmentally sound agricultural training to improve the lives of those who struggle daily for reliable sources of food and income. Heifer is currently working in more than 30 countries, including the United States, to help families and communities become more self-reliant.

Jeugdsportfonds (Youth Sports Fund) offers sports opportunities to children 4 to 18 years of age whose families do not have the financial resources to pay for an athletics club membership. Jeugdsportfonds covers the cost of membership for these children and, in some cases, also pays for any associated sports equipment.

Location and Course

Conveniently located walking distance from the RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre complex, the 4km (2.49-mile) fast, flat course loops through scenic Amstelpark and along the Amstel River. Click here for walking directions from the RAI to the park.

Race Day Information

Early bib pick-up will be held on Friday, September 9, 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the Elemental (Hall 5, Stand C80). Race day bib pick-up begins at 7:00 am on the course.

The 4K 4Charity Fun Run will not be officially timed, but a clock will be available at the start and finish line for participants to monitor their running and walking times.

Participants will select their own pacing group:

• 5:00 - 7:00 min/km
• 7:00 - 9:00 min/km
• 9:00+ min/km

At the finish line, runners and walkers receive a commemorative medal and are invited to celebrate over light snacks, beverages, music and camaraderie.

Secure bag check will be available during the run in a monitored area near the starting line. Volunteers will be stationed at the check-in table, bib pick-up table, bag storage, water stations and at the finish line.
